For centuries, migration has played a significant role in human adaptability, survival, and advancement. Since the beginning of time, people have migrated for a number of reasons, including seeking food, shelter, and water; escaping natural disasters; avoiding enemies or threats; or seeking adventure. One of the unique qualities of humans is movement, which has existed since the beginning of time, according to historical records. In the modern era, migration has now spread throughout the world. Conversely, the global development process includes the urbanization process. Large-scale population transfers from villages to towns, from towns to other towns, and between nations have been seen to accompany industrialization and economic development in the majority of countries. The migration of people from rural to urban areas due to the development of transportation and communication is more significant in the modern era. Depending on differences in economic activity and advancement as well as natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, etc., migration can either depopulate or overpopulate a place. Over the coming decades, it seems expected that the political, demographic, and economic factors affecting rural-to-urban migration will persist. In light of these changing dynamics, this article analyses how migration might affect national economies and looks at economic migration in the context of India's experiences with its regulation.
